The YAS Tweed Range Expands

The YAS Tweed Range Expands

The Great Yorkshire Show is England’s premier agricultural event. Whether you live in Yorkshire or not, the likelihood is that you’ll have heard of it if not attended.

The show is organised by Yorkshire Agricultural Society, a charity supporting rural Yorkshire. Last year, the Society teamed up with two local businesses to produce a stunning tailored tweed jacket. The jacket went down so well that the range has now been expanded to include a matching waistcoat and trousers to complete a YAS three piece suit plus a shooting jacket and cap.

The jackets are supplied by Brook Taverner from Keighley. Roger Meeke, Retail Sales Director of Brook Taverner said: “We are all delighted the tweed has been so popular. Not only did demand for the men’s jacket exceed expectations but having the opportunity to expand the range has been really exciting.”

A line of ladies clothing has also been launched due to the Society having being inundated with requests for a female version.

Show Director, Charles Mills said: “We are all delighted at the success of the tweed and every purchase is supporting Yorkshire agriculture as the Society receives a donation from the sales. “We are very proud of our new ladies jackets and hats and I am really looking forward to seeing them on the catwalk at this year’s show.”

The ladies jacket like the mens version is made from Great Yorkshire Tweed and is also embroidered with the slogan ‘Yorkshire Born & bred’ which sits under the collar.

Great Yorkshire Tweed

The Society’s unique Great Yorkshire Tweed is woven by Guiseley based Abraham Moon & Son. The weave is made up of a stunning green, gold and blue and is both wind and waterproof.

The YAS tweed jackets were unveiled at an exclusive fashion show shoot at Birdsall House, near Malton, which belongs to Lord Middleton, President of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society.

The full range is available to purchase from Eric Spencer of Ilkley and Clarksons in York. You will also find them at the Great Yorkshire Show on stand 106 (Eric Spencer) or stand 338 (Clarksons of Petergate).

If you are at the show and want to see more before you buy, they will feature in the Great Yorkshire Show Catwalk. The catwalk will run each day at 11am, 12:30, 2:30 and 4pm.
