Ep6: NYMMO – Upland Gamekeepers, Shooting Estates, Moorland Management, Countryfile Live

In this episode of The Country Gent Podcast we interview Tina of NYMMO – the North York Moors Moorland Organisation who’s aim is to promote the positive aspects of shooting estates and moorland management.

We discuss why and how the organisation was started, what’s involved in the running of it and some of the initiatives that are currently ongoing.

Tina also tells us about some of the conservation benefits that come with moorland management and proud the gamekeepers are of the red listed species that are doing well on the moors because of the predator control and habitat management work they undertake.

Tina tells us about the 2017 NYMMO charity auction that runs from June until the 12th August. 50% of the proceeds go to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance which is a fantastic cause and a service which is vital to remote areas such as the North York Moors.

There are some great lots and if you want to get involved, keep an eye on their Facebook page.

For more information about NYMMO and the great work they do, visit their website.

The whisky featured in Malt of the Month is the Talisker 57 Degrees North. This is a stunning whisky from the Isle of Skye – listen to the podcast to hear our great reaction to flavour profile bursting to life once we added water to the dram!

You can buy it here from The Whisky Exchange.

The free resource mentioned in the podcast is the audio download of Greg telling us how to properly taste and appreciate whisky. This is a bonus not to be missed! You can get it here.

In the Monarch of the Month series, we continue going through the monarchs and in this episode we kick off with Richard II.

Enjoy the show.
