In this episode of The Country Gent podcast, we talk to Richard Stokoe, one of the founders of the Northern Shooting Show.
The first show last year was a massive success and the second year is going to be even better with more exhibitors drawing an expected larger crowd.
Richard tells us how the show came to exist and why it went down well but also discusses some of the challenges associated with putting on an event of this size.
As always we ask about Richard’s own shooting and discuss the image problem thats shooting sometimes can have.
Advance tickets for the show are only £10 – you can buy them from the Northern Shooting Show website.
Here are some of the things you can expect from this year’s show:
- Indoor and outdoor areas
- Clay and air rifle shooting competitions
- Shooting simulator
- Bushcraft area with demos on knife making, survival skills and foraging
- Artisans and classics pavilion with demos on traditional skills such as stock making and taxidermy
- Deer focus area
- Plenty of shopping opportunities with many of the biggest brands in the shooting industry having a presence at the show
The whisky featured in Malt of the Month is the Laphroaig Select. Widely available and very reasonably priced, this lovely peaty whisky from Islay is a must have for your cabinet.
The free resource mentioned in the podcast is the audio download of Greg telling us how to properly taste and appreciate whisky. This is a bonus not to be missed! You can get it here.
In part two of the Monarch of the Month series, our resident historian tells us all about what happened following the death of William the Conqueror and gives us a quick run down of the three subsequent monarchs.
Enjoy the show.
